July 2017
In a few days, we will celebrate our country’s independence – July 4th. Annually I join with all of Rod’s family to celebrate Independence Day at “the” lake. As a family, we freely come together to play, laugh, tell stories and enjoy the company of each other. Our family is in the growing stage when our children are bringing boyfriends, girlfriends and new spouses to the annual gathering. It is a wonderful time.
This year the annual 4th gathering includes the celebration of the 89th birthday of my father-in-law. To God be the glory!
Dear God,
We thank you for our freedom and for the price that was paid so that we could live free.
Oh God, help us to walk as your followers. We desire to follow your voice, to press in close and hear your heart for our nation and for each other.
Father, forgive us for wondering and trying to go on life’s journey on our own, show us the path leading to a closer walk with you, help us to live every day with purpose and passion, never forgetting the sacrifice of your Son made for each of us. Help us to live our lives in a way that brings full honor and glory to you.
Lord, bless those who have given, and continue to give, so sacrificially of their own lives, so that we can continue to enjoy the freedoms in our nation today. Bless their families, protect them and their loved ones, provide for their needs, fill them with your strength and grace. Help us not to take our freedom for granted. May we always remember that the liberties we so freely enjoy, cost others their very lives.
Thank you for the freedom to worship. Thank you for the freedom to pray. Thank you for the freedom to read scripture. Thank you for the freedom to speak of you and share your word. We are free to share. For this, we are incredibly grateful. Yet, we understand how quickly these freedoms can be taken away. Give us an increased awareness of the spiritual battle we’re in. Help us to stand strong in you, for you, and for your purposes.
Thank you, Lord, that no matter what we face, you hold the final say. Thank you for your presence with us, thank you for your strength. Thank you for never leaving us.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Enjoy this 4th of July. Be safe and take time to give all glory and honor to God.
Summer Blessings,
Pastor Deb
