Council minutes August 18, 2016

Administrative Council Meeting – August 18, 2016

 Present:  Robin Priebe, Melanie Halverson, Ruth Smith, Pat Gorham, Dick Smith, Janell Anderson, Jan Anderson, Naomi Schultz, Edna Cole.

Meeting called to order by Chairman Robin at 6:30 p.m.  Minutes of meeting reviewed and upon motion by Dick/Pat carried and approved.

Financial:  Financial Secretary’s report given by Jan.  Upon motion by Pat/Dick report approved.  Janell gave Treasurer’s report and with motion by Jan/Pat was approved.  Dick reported that Certificate of Deposit was renewed.

Trustees:  Brian Ashworth will be reviewing church/parsonage internet and television options at 9 a.m., August 31 with committee members.  Report has been made of necessary repairs and maintenance for parsonage.  Parking lot will have stripes painted in near future.  Stump grinder will be rented for use.

Christian Education:  Vacation Bible School had 12 – 15 attending and went well.  Will be reviewing feedback from survey sent out to parents regarding options for Sunday School and making a decision at August meeting.  Confirmation would have 5-6 7th graders ready to begin process.  Youth will be having food tent at car show on August 19.  Sept. 11 BBQ to Canoe will be held.  Garage sale possible date is October 29.  JAS will begin October 5, youth Sept 14.

SPPR:  Will meet with District Superintendent to meet next pastor.  Discussion was held on development of new policy regarding pets in parsonage.  Discussion also held on researching actual costs of maintaining/providing a parsonage for future pastors and providing stipend towards pastor providing own living accommodations.

Worship:   Schedule:  August 21, Pastor Gary Lueck; August 28, Val Prax; Sept 4, Lyndy Zabel, Director of Mission Outreach/UMCOR will be speaking/handling communion.  DS has indicated pastor replacement should be in place for Sept. 11.

 WICS:  Planning cleaning day at parsonage Tuesday, August 23, 9 a.m.  Chili/Pie Supper scheduled for Thursday, October 27.

Missions:  Feed My Starving Children, Oct 8 between 4:30 and 6:30 p.m., leave Mora at 3

Other:  Discussion on changing September meeting date as to not conflict with  Ogilvie Harvest Dinner on September 8.

Meeting Adjourned at 7:40 p.m.  Next meeting to be Thursday, September 15 at 6:30 p.m.
