Council minutes Dec. 10, 2020

APPROVED MINUTES – December 10, 2020 Church Council meeting.

Valerie called the meeting to order at 6:35 pm. Pastor opened with a prayer.

Those in attendance meeting were Pastor Deb, Steve, Jan, Alan, Valerie, Carmel, Bob and Janell.

Pastor’s Time: Pastor will be on vacation 12/25-1/4, no fill in needed as they will tape/work ahead. Our church will not be receiving the Investment in Congregation grant for 2021.  We are encouraged to reply for our two remaining years in 2022 and 2023. Riley, a youth group member, has been helping/shadowing Rod in the taping and editing of the worship services.  Janell made a motion that Riley start to step into and be paid for the position of videoing and share that with Rod. Alan second. Motion was approved. For the remainder of 2020 he will help in an unpaid internship position.  Details for 2021 are still to be worked out.

Finance Committee: Phyllis asked for help with the Stewardship programming after the first of the year. There is also need for help setting up the Vanco on line giving. Jan, Carmel and Janell will help with Vanco, Mike P, Jan and Janell will help with the Stewardship program. Paperwork has been signed to extend the PPP grant program paper work deadline.

Trustees: Steve that Gene is going to paint the wall where the library shelves were.  Wednesday the lights will be adjusted to accommodate better lighting for live streaming when we have services indoors again. Ducts are to be cleaned January 20 and all the carpets will be cleaned on January 6.

SPPRC:  The committee recommends that there be no salary increases for 2021. This in no means reflects work performance but because of finances of the church during COVID. SPPRC and Pastor met with our DS remotely on December 15.

Christian Education:  We will plan on joining with a couple larger community churches with their established online CE programming.

Worship: Has met and are planned through January 3 which is Epiphany. A tree was placed outside and there was a time for decorating it.  Wednesdays through the 23 the church is open for meditation, prayer, communion from 2-6. There will be a hymn sing on the 13, the Children’s program on the 20. On Christmas Eve there will be a 5:00 virtual service and at 7:00 there will be a short candlelight service outside by the tree. The service on the 27th will be with conference leadership.

Memorials:  Haven’t met recently. Two memorials were received in November. One was for Florence Wahl and one for Evie Rodecap. They will plan on meeting in January.

Technology: An additional grant was given for $1500.00.  The $1500.00 was used for a sanitizing sprayer for use in the church. Don has been practicing with it with water.  The $3000.00 has been spent on equipment for continuing online worship presence.

WICS: meets next week

Men’s Club:  Is not meeting.

Other business: The Facebook page has not happened yet, the task will be returned to Colleen and Rod.

SPPRC gave an additional week off for Pastor as comp time for the extra work she has put in with the youth after Ben left.  The scheduling is flexible.
