Council minutes December 12, 2019

APPROVED MINUTES  — December 12, 2019 Church Council meeting.

Pastor Deb called the meeting to order at 6:30 pm. and Pastor opened with a reading on waiting

Those in attendance were Pastor Deb, Phyllis, Al, Steve, Bob, Jan, Ben and Janell.

November minutes were reviewed MSA Steve/Bob

Financial Secretary and Treasurer Reports were approved as presented. 34 pledges have been made so far with a total of $70,404.00 pledged.

Trustees: Steve reported that there will be a new aesthetics committee to think about the look of the entire building. The heat tape is done.  Steve replaced some ceiling lights. All other projects are on hold until 2020.

WICS:  Purchased a round table. The size is good, but we need to check on how many will fit in the Fellowship Hall and if they would work for funerals etc.  Also the one that was purchased is sturdy but there are two braces that make the putting up and taking down not very practical, so another type will be looked for.

Men’s Club: No report

Ben’s time:  There is a more consistent (more than just one) student at events the last month, 7 last Saturday and 7 at Youth Group.

Christian Education:  The new book study has started.  It will be a 6 week session, with 4 times a week being offered between Mora and Ogivlie.

Worship:  Ben has taken on the nursery scheduling. The small rectangular table will be used to have information to check and update personal contact information for members and regulars attendees.  In January the 3 year olds and 3rd graders and confirmands will be receiving new Bibles. There will also be a new member class.  The Christmas program is the coming Sunday. Christmas Eve service is at 5:00 p.m. Ben will be leading the service on the 29th as Pastor Deb will be out of the town with family.

SPPRC:  Approved a 2% raise for employees. Also, Janell and Colleen will be getting a one week paid vacation. Which means others will be volunteering to fill in when that happens.$75.00 for organist/pianists was approved and will bring us in line with other churches.

Finance:  Budget is pretty much finalized, church conference will hopefully be held in January for final approval of budget and PEF Interest dispersement.  A grant in the amount of $20,000.00 was applied for and awarded to the Mora Church. This will be used for Youth, Children and family ministry/outreach. The money is dispersed quarterly, with a mid year evaluation. Otherwise there are not too many strings.  Apportionments must be paid in full.

Mission: The Alternative gift information is out in the Narthex area.

Cindy Gregorson contacted Pastor Deb and said that out church was recommended by the DS for a program called Leaderwise. This program has 5 one day emersion process with coaches for 18 months.  Pastor has more information for those that are interested. The Council  recommended that Pastor explore the cost and other details for us.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:32 pm.

Next meeting Thursday November 9th.

Respectfully submitted,

Janell Anderson, Council Secretary
