APPROVED MINUTES – February 11, 2021 Church Council meeting.
Valerie called the meeting to order at 6:31 pm. Pastor opened with a prayer.
Those in attendance meeting were Pastor Deb, Valerie, Phyllis, Alan, Ruth, Carmel, Janell, Jan, Steve
Pastor’s Time: Pastor Deb will be attending Shmita a conference presented year long opportunity comprised of retreats, zoom events and the like. This is a year long educational opportunity.
The Mora Church conference will be Saturday March 6 at 10:00 am. This will be an in person and zoom meeting.
The Secretary’s report was approved M/S/C Carmel/Phyllis
Financial Secretary’s report was approved M/S/C Janell/Steve
Treasurer’s report were approved as presented M/S/C Jan/Phyllis
Finance Committee: The 12500.00 PPE loan was forgiven. The percentage of giving between 2019 and 2020 does not come up to enough of difference to apply for the new PPE loan opportunity. Pledge Sunday is this coming Sunday, March 8th.
SPPRC: A meeting will be scheduled for March
Trustees: An AED will be purchased with the American Heart Association special funds and the balance will be paid for by special donations by church members. Gene and Jan will paint the back wall (old library). A new fire extinguisher is being purchased for the parsonage. In the spring some new wiring will be done on the east side of the church.
Christian Education: No report
Worship: The church/sanctuary will be open from 2-6 for Ash Wednesday. For a quiet time of reflection and prayer, communion will be available. Ruth will make a contact for a host from 2-4, Valerie will host from 4-6.
Memorials: Haven’t met recently
Missions: Haven’t met recently
Technology: Valerie to set up a meeting
WICS: Will be meeting at 6 on the 17th and work on setting up a meal for an upcoming vaccination clinic.
Men’s Club: Is not meeting.
Other business: Worship in person, this will be assessed on a month by month bases. The goal is to be in person on Easter, possibly Palm Sunday if it can be done safely. Sunday morning will look different. No coffee, food, singing.
The church’s Facebook is still not on line and they can’t figure out why.
Farmer’s Market will start up again May 1st.
Goals for 2021 – besides back into church for worship what other goals can we achieve?
Review our mission statement: Living for Christ, sharing His love. Does this still speak to us as congregation?
