Approved minutes of the Mora United Methodist Church Administrative Council meeting on July 14, 2022
Those present were Val Prax, Rhonda Stegeman, Steve Sigstad, Phyllis Roseberry, Carmel Gorham
The meeting started at 6:31pm.
The reports from the Secretary, Finance Secretary, and Treasurer were all read, motion made, seconded, and passed.
Other Committee reports:
Finance : Stewardship Drive ideas are being explored.
Trustees: Working out details to rental of the parsonage along with the SPPRC committee.
There is a cleaning /work day scheduled for July 20th at 2pm.
Reaching out for parking lot quotes
SPPRC: Phyllis Roseberry has been hired as our church Office Administrator.
Rule of Christ Training will be schedules in the future once a leader is found.
Christian Ed: Getting confirmation lined up for the fall. Planning on 2 groups. The 7th & 8th graders will have a 2 year program and the 9th & 10th graders will have a 1 year program. Plan is to be on one night at different times. Parents stay tuned for information coming out.
Worship: Planning events for each month. Worship/Christian Ed/Women In Christian Service (WICS) will be working on Backpacks/school supplies and having a blessing of the backpacks for the start of the school year.
Christmas service will be held on Dec. 23, 2022 at 7pm. There will not be a Christmas Eve service. There will be a Sunday service, as usual, on Christmas Day, Dec. 25, at 10:30.
Missions: The committee met and are starting potlucks again on August 7, 2022. They are looking for a new missionary to sponsor with Phyllis R helping. Hoping to schedule a time in October to do a service time at Feed My Starving Children. There is hope by the council that the confirmation groups can participate in this.
Memorials: Monies being given for Parking lot
Technology: Robin checked the sound board following the service on July 10 and did a couple of tweaks. It seems to be working but some cable(s) need replacing.
WICS (Women In Christian Service): They meet on July 20. Will be working with the backpack/school supply collection, a funeral coming up, the Chili Supper in September, and Highway cleanup this fall.
Men’s Club: Not meeting until Sept.
Other Business:
A new Facility Use form is being worked on for the fees charged. Will look and at the council meeting in Aug.
A schedule has been set up for the various things that need our church goers to help with to enhance our
Sunday time together, Flowers, Fellowship time, readers, sound persons, greeters/ushers, etc.
Rules of Christ Training for all church leaders and any person in the church that would like to participate is
being scheduled in the fall of 2022.
Pastor Deans Time: He will be having trainings in July, August, and September. Some are in person others
are via zoom.
His licensing is done.
There is a free Concert, Jason Gray, in St. Croix Falls on Aug. 12
He will be doing a tailgating freeze pop visiting time at the Mora UMC parking lot to visit
with all that would like to come by and visit. These will be held on Wednesdays and
Thursdays, July 20, 21, 27, & 28.
Mission/vision work: We will pause until Pastor Dean is here, he will help with this. Hopefully will start and
Finish in August/Sept.
