Council minutes March 15, 2016

Administrative Council Meeting – March 15, 2016

Present:  Pastor Rob Pesola, Dick Smith, Pat Gorham, Ruth Smith, Betty White, Fran Anderson, Edna Cole, Naomi Schultz.

Meeting (postponed from normal schedule of March 10) was called to order by Pat at 6:30 p.m.  Minutes of meeting reviewed and upon motion by Ruth/Dick carried and approved.

Membership:  Membership Book and Shepherd’s Staff are now in balance at 159 members. Constituents bring total to approximately 250 individuals.  Work will continue on refining list and developing better avenues of communication.  Discussion was held on development of a Shepherding Ministry to involve membership in a closer involvement and commitment to each other.  Discussion on development of a pictorial church directory to include members and such constituents that might wish to be included.

Pastor:  Easter week services are planned and will include a Sonrise Service presented by the Youth at 7 am.  Nursing Home and hospital visitations have been extensive this month.

Christian Education:  Vacation Bible School set for August 9 – 11, from 6:00 to 7:30 pm. and will include participation from Ogilvie UMC.  Sunday School is doing fine with change of start time to 9:30 am, Confirmation of 6 youth scheduled for May 22, graduation (3 students) celebration will be June 5.  Youth Mission trip set for July 16 – 23.  Rummage sale – April 16.  Two Boundary waters trips in June and August.

Worship:  Plans completed for Easter services and Mother’s Day.

WICS:  Blessing Bags have been utilized, help will be needed for Spring Dinner on April 9.

Missions:  Feed My Starving Children work group scheduled for April 2.

Men’s Club:  Plans being made for Easter Pancake breakfast and the spring dinner.

Financial:  Dick presented financial reports in the absence of both Treasurer and Financial Secretary,  Noted expenses paid for kitchen/social hall project and the income of the loan necessary to complete payment.  Plans to be made for informational efforts to raise the funds needed to pay off the loan in a timely manner.  Discussion on directing  information to congregation about automatic withdrawal option for giving.  On motion by Naomi/Ruth reports filed for audit.

Other:  Pastor Rob forwarded a request for assistance with piano maintenance or replacement at Scandia House/Mora.  Discussion indicated expense not to come out of church budget but through private donations as need is clarified.

Meeting Adjourned at 8 p.m.  Next meeting to be held on Thursday, April 14, 2016.  Note:  Council Secretary will not be available for that meeting.
