Administrative Council Meeting – March 9, 2017

Present:  Robin Priebe, Val Prax, Ruth Smith, Melanie Stegeman, Dick Smith, Janell Anderson, Jan Anderson, Carmel Gorham, Edna Cole, Pastor Deb Schaffran.

Meeting called to order by Chairman, Robin at 6:30 p.m.  Pastor Deb led prayer.

Minutes of February 9 meeting reviewed and upon motion by Val/Jan carried and approved.

Pastor’s Report:  Will begin Jail Chaplin duties tomorrow, met with Kanabec County Ministerial group again planning Good Friday service,  Janell will fill in on March 11 Bible Study in Pastor’s absence.

Financial Reports:

Financial Secretary:  Upon motion by Janell/Val report approved

Treasurer:  Upon motion by Jan/Carmel report was approved and filed for audit.

Finance/Stewardship:  No report.

Committee Reports:

Christian Education:  Committee meeting postponed.  Confirmation on 1st Wednesday utilizing School Release Time with parents dropping students off at Parsonage at 8, returning to school at 10:30, 12 month program, 9 participants, 6 – 10th graders;  Youth served 58 for Valentine’s Dinner, net profit of $900; arrangements in process for overnight accommodations for the 2 scheduled Boundary Water trips,   Wednesday night youth and JAS programs averaging 12 students each; Youth rummage sale planned for April 22; discussion on church space issues and possible new strategies.

Communication/Technology:  No report.

Membership: Card Ministry has begun with birthday/anniversary greeting cards being sent out; membership still being reviewed for contacts.

Memorials:  No report.

Missions:  March/Food Shelf Month

Nominations:  No report.  Pastor Deb/Ruth will set in motion.

Permanent Endowment:  No report.  Meeting to be held soon.

Staff Pastor Parish Relations:  No report.  Parsonage tour scheduled for March 15.

Trustees:  Preparing lists of ‘Have-To-Do’ and ‘Would Be Nice’.  Committee requested all committee chairs to discuss needs/wants and present to Trustees.  Bruce Mosher has volunteered to prepare spread sheet.  New locking mailbox has been donated and will be installed shortly.

Worship:  Baptism and new member Sundays planned.  Camping theme service planned for April 30.  Change in Reserved pews for Ushers to back row in front of Sound Booth.  Praise Team both Palm Sunday and Easter.

Service Groups:

Men’s Club: No report

Women in Christian Service:  Ham dinner April 28.

Old Business:

Lay Delegate for Annual Conference needed.

Church Pictorial Directory – will wait for spring/summer to pursue

Records Retention – remind all committees to review and prepare their records.

Shepherding Ministry – in process, ongoing project, committee to be formed.

New Business:
