UNAPPROVED MINUTES

Mora United Methodist Church
Administrative Council Meeting – May 14, 2015

Present:  Mike Schultz, Larry Brettingen, Melanie Halverson, Jan Anderson, Ruth Smith, Dick Smith, Janell Anderson, Edna Cole, Pastor Rob Pesola, Pat Gorham, Carmel Gorham.

Meeting called to order by Chairman, Mike at 7 p.m.  Minutes of April 9 meeting reviewed and upon motion by Pat/Janell/carried and approved.  Pastor Rob led prayer.

Pastor:  Taking vacation May 18-24, Val to speak, extra nursing home services cancelled last Sunday due to illness, Annual Conference May 27 – 29 in St. Cloud, continuing sermon series on Romans.

Financial:  Jan presented Financial Secretary report. Upon motion Janell/Pat/carried and approved.  Janell gave Treasurer’s report and Pat/Jan/carried and approved.  Report given on Endowment Committee actions.  Discussion on need for landline phone at the parsonage.  Upon motion Pat/Larry/carried to discontinue this telephone as unnecessary with Pastor’s cell phone number to be added to the church answering machine message.   Discussion on the potential for a matching fund drive for general operation expenses.

Trustees:  Church yard clean-up planned, addition of a basketball hoop, parking lot to be striped with additional handicapped parking spaces provided east of front door.

Christian Education:  May 17th last day of Sunday School with thanks given to teachers and other workers, all church picnic to follow service; graduation May 31.  Youth holding rummage/bake sale on May 16, other events to fund canoe trip.

Worship:  May 24 Pentecost/Memorial Day observance; 3rd Sundays of month through summer will feature a block of time for congregation hymn sing.  Looking into a youth orchestra to perform for Sunday services.

WICS:  Meeting on May 20, 6 pm, preparing gift blankets.

Missions:  Information for health and school kits to take to Annual Conference are available in Social Hall.

Men’s Club:  Rain so yard cleanup did not occur.  Possible work on dead trees scheduled for Saturday.

Memorials:  Meeting May 18, 5 pm to discuss distribution of undesignated funds.

Nominations:  Work has begun on updating standing committee members.

Other:  Council Secretary was directed to work with office to place Council minutes online as soon as possible following meetings, to be marked as “unapproved” and to ask office to set up permanent paper files for copies of Council meeting minutes to be available to anyone seeking information with or without computer access.

Meeting Adjourned at 7:50 pm.  Next meeting to be held on June 11, 2015.
