Pastors Moment:
“The Wiseman Built His House Upon …”
“Everyone, then, who hears these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock. The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall because it had been built upon the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not act on them will be like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell—and great was its fall!” Now when Jesus had finished saying these words, the crowds were astounded at his teaching, for he taught them as one having authority and not as their scribes. (Matthew 7:24-29 NRSVue)
Have any building projects? What do you look for before deciding to begin any major construction to your home or business? Yes, Rhonda and I are in this dilemma as we don’t want to be caught “foolish” as the addition of a deck and three-season porch is in the near future. Hoping for completion early this summer if we can remain “wise” in this remodeling project. But are we building on the sand or on the rock? It’s actually called “Cushing loam.” Ok, maybe Jesus doesn’t really care where or who we have to do this construction, but does care that we take care of his Father’s creation as we begin our thought process. So much to consider and just hope the contractor will come through with a reasonable bid. Yes, we need to be frugal and fruitful with the gifts in which God gives us freely. This is true as we remodel the construction of our faith. Don’t let the distraction of the details of your faith and commitments of our humanity drag you down as the Rock who guides you will be with you. He will be with you in every decision as you work on the greatest remodeling project-the remodeling of your faith and belief in the Rock in which we lean upon to build our faith in Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit. Get to building and the bid, the cost, has already been paid for you in the sacrifice, death, and resurrection of Christ.

Wednesday Youth and Adult Classes. Every Wednesday (unless otherwise indicated on the church announcements) come and join the fellowship of our community of faith with a fellowship meal (5:30PM) and then classes to follow (6:10PM). All are welcome!

Thursday Bible Study. Will resume this spring. Please be watchful for the announcement of a day and time.

Bread Distribution: Our church family has embraced the opportunity to share and break bread with our community. If you would like to help out with repacking of the bread for distribution and to help manage the tables as we share the bread with all who come. If you would like to help out and have not yet, give the church a call and we’ll share how you too can help out.

Cup of Grace. Come and join Pastor Dean and other members of our church family as we share with our community a free cup of coffee and some quality time to chat about almost anything going on in your lives. Your cares, concerns, and joys are shared. We are always looking for volunteers to come and welcome our community to share in a cup of brewed coffee, and to share a good morning to all.

A Cup of Grace
Come and share in our Mora UMC Fresh Expression as we share the love of God to our community one cup at a time. We are sponsoring black coffee every Wednesday during bakery hours at the Mora Bakery on Union Street.
All are welcome, and invite your friends. We sponsor coffee all day, but our church will be present with conversation from 9:30-11:00. Come for coffee, laughter, and a few stories. Don’t forget they do have some great donuts!

SOUPER BOWL OF CARING
We will again be collecting cans of soup for the Mora Food Pantry, from Sunday, Jan. 25th through Sunday, Feb. 8th . Your donated cans of soup can be placed in the “Souper Bowl of Caring” container that will be located in the narthex. It has been suggested that cream soups and “hearty” soups are the more favored kinds. The soup cans will be placed in front of the altar – seeing how high and how wide our pyramids grow. If you prefer to give a monetary donation to the Mora Food Pantry during this promotion, please make your check out to Mora Food Pantry, or label your cash donation “Food Pantry”. Thank you in advance for your anticipated help in “tackling” hunger in our community.
