June, 2016
Dear Friends in Christ:
Praise God…summer is upon us. Amen? How great to see the sun shining brighter and longer, to feel the warmth and see the beauty of God’s creation. I know many of you will be spending time with family and friends throughout the summer, building memories, renewing friendships and just enjoying being together. My prayer for you is that this will be a rewarding, rich time for you and your families.
This month, I want to say a few words about guilt. Guilt is something we all have, whether we feel guilty about things we know we have done wrong or regret over what we feel we should have done better. Our shoulders were not designed to carry guilt. It weighs us down and breaks us. Many of us have a longing to “do over” some things in our life. My own list is long, believe me. We think, “If only I would have done this. Or, if I hadn’t done this, then that wouldn’t have happened.” Unchecked, the guilt we feel about the things we regret will destroy us. And until someone comes up with a time machine that works, we are not able to do anything to change all that has happened. We can refuse to think about it, but it will surface at some point in some manner anyway. And it will make us sick, miserable, angry, or depressed. However, when we place our faith in Jesus, we are cleansed completely from our past! Isn’t that awesome? That means every mistake or violation of God’s rules, ways, or laws is complete forgiven. The slate is wiped clean! The Apostle Paul declares in his book to the Romans, “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus.” My friends, when you receive Jesus as your Savior, He takes away the condemnation of all our sins and mistakes of the past, and we are free from all of that guilt! If you are struggling with guilt and shame, go to Jesus and let Him take it from you. He died on the cross to make us forgiven and righteous! Amen!
Have a great month of June. God bless you richly. If I can be of any help to you, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely in Christ,
Pastor Rob
