Life’s adversities and difficulties

As we all know, everyone goes through adversity and difficulty.  In fact, the whole world at times seems hopeless as there are so many people who are suffering and hurting in one way or another. I’ve heard the question asked before:   “Why get involved in someone else’s difficulty?”  It’s true…there is so much need it seems impossible to be of any help.  May I encourage you today?  You can make a difference!  One person at a time.  Showing kindness to one person helps change the world just a little bit.  The New Testament in the Bible says that our Lord Jesus “went about doing good.”  He is the example to follow.  And don’t get discouraged if or when you try and are rebuffed or even attacked and criticized for your efforts. Don’t despair and give up even before you get started. My philosophy is, “Everyone can do something.”  Read this list…I found it just today:

You’ve a telephone. Make a call.
You’ve got paper. Write a letter.
You’ve got a kitchen. Make a meal.
You’ve got a billfold. Give some Money.
You’ve got two hands. Put them to work for others.
You’ve got two feet. Go see a friend in pain.
You’ve got two ears. Listen to the cries of the wounded.
You’ve got two eyes. Lift them up to see the world as God sees it.
You’ve got two lips. Preach the gospel of peace.
Perhaps you’ve heard this little poem:
I am only one person, but I am one.
I cannot do everything, but I can do something.
What I can do, I ought to do.
And what I ought to do, by the grace of God,
I will do.
My friends, only God knows how much he can accomplish through us. All He asks is that we surrender our little contribution to him and then watch what he can do with it.  Amen and Amen!
