Council minutes May 12, 2016

Mora United Methodist Church
Administrative Council Meeting – May 12, 2016 6:30 p.m.

 Present:  Robin Priebe, Pastor Rob Pesola, Melanie Halverson, Dick Smith, Jan Anderson, Janell Anderson, Naomi Schultz, Val Prax and Edna Cole.

Meeting called to order by Chairman, Robin at 6:30 p.m.  Minutes of April 14 meeting reviewed and upon motion by Janell/Dick were approved.  Pastor Rob led prayer.

Financial:  Financial Secretary’s report presented by Jan, Motion by Janell/Naomi to approve carried and passed.  Treasurer’s report by Janell approved upon motion by Jan/Melanie. Discussion on financial challenges.  Preliminary plans made for payment of refurbishing loan as soon as possible.  Janell/Val will co-op presentation to alert membership to this need.

Trustees:  Discussion continued on financial constraints due to lack of revenues.  Expenses continue to be under budget but revenues fall behind each month creating an ongoing deficit.

Pastor:  Confirmation and graduation Sundays are set.  Pastor Rob will be giving Baccalaureate address at both Mora and Ogilvie this year.

Christian Education:  Theme for Vacation Bible School will be “God and Nature” and will be held August 9 – 11, 6 – 7:30 p.m.  Volunteers will be needed.  Discussion still being held on Sunday School format for next year.  Jesus After School had large enthusiastic attendance.

 Worship:  Memorial weekend service will feature patriotic music.  Plans are in place for graduation Sunday and Father’s Day.  Special music is planned for September and Praise Team will resume in October.

 WICS:  Gifts have been prepared for graduating students and visuals for Pentecost Sunday.

Men’s Club:  A list of small repair projects has been prepared and members will work on these either on their own or when the group meets.

Memorials:  Recent undesignated donations will be allocated for refurbishing loan.  Discussion was held on use of the broken fountain as a succulent garden in the Meditation Garden.  Contact will again be made with donors for approval.

Other:  After much discussion motion by Melanie/Val to move black desk into Pastor Rob’s office passed and carried.

Meeting Adjourned at 7:40 pm.  Next meeting to be held on Thursday, June 9, 2016. 6:30 p.m.
