Administrative Council Meeting – October 13, 2016

 Present:  Pastor Deb Schaffran, Naomi Schultz, Jan Anderson, Janell Anderson, Dick Smith, Bob Halverson, Melanie Halverson, Ruth Smith and Edna Cole.

Meeting called to order by Vice Chairman, Dick at 6:30 p.m.  Minutes of meeting reviewed and upon motion by Melanie/Janell carried and approved.

Financial:  Financial Secretary’s report was given by Jan.  Upon motion by Ruth/Janell approved.  Treasurer’s report given by Janell was approved upon motion by Ruth/Jan.  Filed for audit.  Notice given that floor covering loan has been repaid.  Discussion on Stewardship campaign.

Worship:  Sermon plans in place through December 2016.  Christmas Eve service will be held in Mora at 8 p.m.  Informal service planned for Christmas Day.  Edna joined meeting in progress.  Discussion held on the group Forgiven returning for another concert on July 16, 2017 at 7 p.m. to be sponsored by Mora Area churches.

Christian Education:  Youth programs are going well.  Garage sale is scheduled for October 29.  Sunday Church School has been well received by young families.

WICS:  The Chili/Pie supper fundraiser is planned for October 27 from 4:30 to 6:30 pm.  UMCOR buckets have been filled and will be passed on.

Missions:  October 2 potluck donations and others were donated to Feed My Starving Children program. Thirty plus individuals will be packaging food at the Coon Rapids center on October 15.  Discussion on potential uses of Missions monies.  Alternative Gifts will continue to be promoted at Christmas time.  Agreement with our missionaries will continue through 2017.

Trustees:  Work is continuing on Parsonage updates including some flooring issues.  Discussion was held on proposed projection screen arm at front of sanctuary.

Memorials:  Dick will check on increasing stability for the angel recently placed in the Meditation Garden as a Memorial to Jim Cole.

Meeting Adjourned at 7:40 pm.  Next meeting to be held on Thursday, December 10, 2016.
