Think a Minute:
I have thought many times that my thoughts were something that just happened to me, as if they flew into my mind like birds into a tree and I could not control them. I have discovered however over the years that as a Christian I can take control of my thoughts. In fact the Bible instructs us to do so. I have also discovered that I may not be able to control EVERY thoughts that flies into my mind, but I can CAN control how long it perches there! Did you know what we think can control our lives? Ir you think you are a failure at everything you do, that will control you. Thoughts can also be immoral or they can be downright evil. The secret is to be yielded to the Lord every day, including your mind and ask Him to be very involved in what you think. What also helps is filling your mind and heart with God’s Word…His thoughts. When you do that, you are allowing the power of the Divine to enter your life and you will find strength in time of need. Observe what God says in His word: Romans 12:2: “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your MIND, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” Isaiah 26:3: “You will keep him (or her) in perfect peace, whose MIND is stayed on You, because he/she trusts in You.,” My friends, the more you know God – by reading His Word and spending time with Him in prayer and worship-the more you can discern what thoughts are of Him and what thoughts are either from your flesh or the enemy. If you are struggling with your thought life, read the following prayer out loud to the Lord:
“Lord, help me to cast down every thought I have that is not glorifying to You. Enable me to bring my thoughts in captivity and obedience to You and Your ways. Show me what is in my mind and heart that is not pleasing to You. Enable me to choose this day to fill my mind with thoughts of kindness, peace, joy and love. I pray that Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, will guard my heart and MIND through Jesus, my Lord. In His Name I pray…. Amen and Amen!”
