There is nothing God cannot do

L. R. Scarborough, a great evangelistic preacher of the early twentieth century, once preached a sermon on Jonah and the whale. After the sermon was over, his little boy said to him, “Dad, do you really believe that story? Do you really believe that a fish could swallow a man and keep him alive for three days?” His great preacher father said, “Well, if God could create a man, and if God could create a fish, don’t you believe that God could create a fish that was capable of swallowing a man and keeping him alive for three days?”

His little boy said, “Well, if you are going to bring God into it, that’s different!”

It’s true. There is nothing God cannot do. Whatever your situation or circumstances…God loves you and He is infinitely interested in you…and loves you eternally! Just call on Him and you immediately muster all the forces of heaven at your request.

My friends, you take any problem you want and bring God into it, and God can solve that problem. One favorite hymn puts it like this:

Got any rivers you think are uncrossable?
Got any mountains you can’t tunnel through?
God specializes in things thought impossible,
He does the things others cannot do.

In Psalms 50, verse 15, God’s promise thunders across the pages of time to us: “…call upon Me in the day of trouble; I shall rescue you and you will honor Me…” Amen and Amen!
