Warm weather, sounds refreshing!

Greetings to you in the name of Jesus our Lord!

Warm weather!  Doesn’t that sound refreshing?  Doesn’t that sound like heaven?  Aren’t you glad it’s going to be warm in heaven (I certainly hope it is! We had a rather mild winter, and I do believe spring will come forth very soon!  And of course, summer is next and we all know that means fishing, vacations, barbeques, swimming, suntans and cool lemonade.  If you are like me, you will cherish the warm memories you build with your families this summer and take lots of pictures!

Spring and summer can also be a time of being too busy and I am just as guilty as anyone.  You should see my calendar!  But, for me it can be a danger.  You see, sometimes I get so busy, I shove out my time with God; sometimes I can forget what’s really important and of eternal value.  Don’t get me wrong.  I treasure my times with family and friends and I heartily believe those times are extremely important.  But, it’s easy to forget spending time talking to God in prayer or reading His Word.  How would you feel if you are good friends with someone; you have known each other for years and you would trust your life with him or her.  All of sudden, you notice your friend has not spoken to you in quite a while.  No phone calls, no visits, no lunch together.  In fact, you find out later that he/she has moved without telling you!  How would you feel?  Pretty deserted right?

We need to remember that God desires our fellowship.  He delights in us spending time with Him.  He loves to bless His people with His power and presence.  The Psalmist cried out in Psalm 63:1:  “O God, Thou art my God; I shall seek Thee earnestly; My soul thirsts for Thee, my flesh yearns for Thee…”

With a heart that seeks God and desires His fellowship, you can bet God takes great joy in blessing that person!  And you know what?  The more of God we have, the more we find we want of Him.

There is a song by Bill Gaither that goes like this:

More of You
More of You
I’ve had all, but what I need
Just more of You
Of things I’ve had my fill
And yet I hunger still
Empty and bare, Lord hear my prayer
For more of You!

May our risen Lord richly bless you this coming spring and summer season!  Can I hear an Amen?  (Where have you heard that before?)

Yours In Christ,

Pastor Rob
